Initial talks with Smart Community Care...

One recent development is a possible partnership with the Smart Community Care-Northern Mindanao and Central Mindanao University. The details of a Memorandum of Agreement will be laid out and ironed out soon...

CMU: The Academic Paradise of the South

Central Mindanao University (The academic paradise of the south) CMU is one of the biggest universities in the Philippines in terms of land area (3,080 ha titled land). Today it has grown into a nine-college and two-school academe, with a number of non-academic units to cater to its four-fold mandate: instruction, research, extension, and production. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has identified CMU as a Center of Excellence (COE) in Agriculture Education, Forestry Education, and Veterinary Medicine. Further, it is identified as a Center of Development (COD) in Biology and Mathematics. Similarly, CHED through the NAFES Program has declared CMU as a “National University for the College of Agriculture” (NUCA) in 2009. By growing as an academe, it aims to also propel the growth of its surrounding communities, clienteles, and stakeholders by producing learned and skills-equipped human resources, knowledge and technologies from research, innovative strategies and approaches for community development, and adequate resources through production.

Update (as of Sept 22, 2010)

Some proposed projects in the line up:

1. Regular/sustained online subscription of relevant scientific journals
2. Installation of emergency light systems for lecture halls and laboratory rooms (especially those used for 6-7 am classes and 5-7 pm classes)
3. Establishment of a Crop Research Center (CRC) - this will be a long time project definitely
4. Covered basketball courts
5. Screenhouses for experiments
